  1. Lou White was my father he just passed away August 7, 2019. I am
Looking for more memorabilia like this and am running into difficulties. Any suggestions?

    1. Lou was outstanding at San Diego High. He was the quarterback on the Cavers’ Eastern League championship team in 1960. Lou and teammate Thomas Phillips went on to productive college careers at the University of Arizona. I saw Lou run the 120-yard high hurdles at the state track finals at East Los Angeles College in 1961, finishing fifth. Lou’s best time of :14.5 in the high hurdles was, at the time, tied for the fastest ever run in San Diego County. Lou and Phillips were brilliant in the football carnival. San Diego outscored Kearny, 21-6, in the 15-minute fourth quarter of the carnival. Lou teammed with Phillips on an 88-yard touchdown pass play and passed for touchdowns of 22 yards to Dave Ortman and 68 to Eddie Frost. There should be lots of newspaper covereage of Lou in the San Diego and Tucson newspapers. How to get it would take some work. Much of Lou’s accomplishments and statistics in football and track at San Diego would be available at the Central library, where microfilm exists and is available to the public. You would have to go through the microfilm files, which will be time-consuming. I’m guessing the Tucson newspapers also would have microfilm. I knew Lou’s brother, Jimmy, who worked for a parking lot company near my office back in the day. Best of luck in your search.

  2. Lou White ‘s memorial service was held on September 1st, 2019 in San Bernardino, California. My brother (Emmett D White Sr) was a great example for me. That I were recruited to Arizona in 1966. 801 430 7471

  3. Is it possible to get the team roster for the 1963 Arizona Wildcats Football team, I found a picture of my Dad who was on the team that year, but the roster I pulled up does not show his name. Is it possible that the African Americans names were not listed on the roster or photographed in the team picture.

    1. I’m sure the University of Arizona sports information office can help you. I remember the players from San Diego on that team, Lou White and Thomas Phillips of San Diego High, Preston Davis of Lincoln, and Dave DeSonia from Clairemont. The San Diego Union published a photo of the 4 and I posted it in my 1963 narrative.ust go to the search link for that year.
