There is an *abundance* of talented San Diego-area athletes returning next spring who qualified for the State Meet — along with a couple who were derailed by injury. I anticipate a much stronger showing from our section in 2026!
It wasn’t that bad this year, in my opinion. There were the usual disappointments and Five gold medalists, compared to 10 in 2024. But I don’t think we ever had more than zero or 2 or 3 going all the way back. The shitstorm about AB Hernandez probably will be increased as the number increases.
Collectively, horrible showing for San Diego County.
Still, five gold medals. There were 10 last year, but over the years usually only 0-2 or 3 at most.
