2025 Flag Football Weeks 1-2: Bonita Vista, Carlsbad Off to Strong Starts
Bonita Vista (6-0) and Carlsbad (9-2) top local rankings with Torrey Pines (5-2) and Classical (6-4) in pursuit.
The Barons bounced back from a disappointing first-round playoff loss in 2024, and a 12-7 record but have outscored their opponents this season, 179-49.
Carlsbad is building on a 15-10 inaugural season and a loss in the 2024 Division II championship game to Westview, with losses only to San Juan Capistrano JSerra and Mission Hills.
Torrey Pines has lost to Newbury Park and state second-ranked Newport Beach Newport Harbor. Classical is looking to get back to its D-I 2024 championship form.
The chatter this year has been about adjusting to nationally standardized rules that apply to all levels of play, high school, college and Olympics. The major differences from 2024 are changes that allow rushing the quarterback, running in all situations and ‘screen blocking’ everywhere. A complete list here.
