This could be a first since the first game in San Diego County in the 19th century. I can’t remember another.
A father and his son will be head coaches against each other when Francis Parker plays host to Borrego Springs in a Week 2 game.
Tim White, who moved from Borrego Springs to Francis Parker this season, will oppose Borrego’s new coach, Ty White, the son of Tim and the grandson of legendary Chargers offensive lineman Big Ed White.
Adding to this instant drama is the game’s veteran referee Bob Hood, who served almost two decades as a Chargers employee and was team’s business manager for many years.
Big Ed and Joan White probably will sit on one side of the field for the game’s first half and move to the other side for the second half. Just to show no partiality for Tim or Ty.
Just don’t ask the Whites if they favor son over grandson
