2025 Flag Football Week 9: Barons Still Undefeated As Playoff Seeds Loom
All teams are putting a finer edge on their weapons this last week of the regular season, as playoff seeds and pairings come out Saturday, Oct. 25, with first games on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The top eight seeds, per MaxPreps‘ ranking system, become the Division I bracket. The next 12 are D-II, and so on, down through D-V.

ON THE FIELD
Bonita Vista survived a scare from Eastlake (5-12) to win by an unusual 2-0 score, but regained focus to bounce Otay Mesa (5-10) and San Ysidro (13-5), to stay undefeated at 19-0 and earn an expected No. 1 seed.
John Maffei’s Week 9 poll is largely status quo, but Grossmont slipped with a 26-7 loss to Steele Canyon, and Poway displaced No. 10 Imperial (19-3) by topping Torrey Pines, 13-12.
DESERT HIDDEN GEM
Azul Trujillo, quarterback for Calexico Vincent Memorial (18-5), leads the nation in passing with 7,577 yards, an average of 329 a game, with a high of 485 in a loss to Poway, according to MaxPreps. No ‘flash in the pan’, Azul also was an NFL Under 15 Flag Champion most-valuable player. and will lead the Scots, ranked 11th by MaxPreps, in the D-II playoffs.
