Hello I noticed that under the girls all time marks for triple jump it seems like the shot put scores are there and the triple jump marks are under the discus category. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
Mark, thanks for the great catch – believe it’s corrected, plz review and keep that excellent feedback coming!

Hi Rick,
My name is Danny Perez, head track coach at Mission Bay. I am inquiring about getting some list and all time marks for Mission Bay. I was wondering besides going downtown (when it reopens) library and check microfilm, if you had any of Steve brand’s old results books, your copies of results books that you did or any marks from the 70s,80s and 90s. I am also part of a team that is taking the CA State meet from hank lawson and adding the results via athletic.net, a site we all use for track and field results. It is much appreciated if you can help thank you.

Coach Perez. I only have one copy each remaining of the books I did in 1965 and 1971. Steve Brand took over in 1973, I think. I will go to Kinkos and get more copies of my books and send to you but give me a couple weeks, as well be gone next week. My email is rick@partletonsports.com. Send me some questions about any specific event or competitor. I’d be happy to help. Did you know Jim Cerveny also had the school record in thev220 and 440 for awhile. I think he ran around :22.3 in the 220 and :49.6. Everyone remembers him as an 880 man. Thanks for writing.
Hi Rick and Coach Perez,
When I attended Mission Bay in the 1950’s there was a display on the wall of the locker room of the all time track and field marks. I am sorry they did not continue that tradition. If you need help researching best MBHS marks let me know. I am a retired City of San Diego Librarian.

Coach Perez: Send me your address.
I’m trying to locate all of the SD section Track & Field finals (this would be the State qualifying meet) so that I can post on my website (www.LynbrookSports.com). I’d love a scan of the original results (if they still exist) but would also take scans from newspapers or other publications that also printed these results. Any idea who or where I can go to get this info? I’ve tried CIFSD site but they don’t go back very far. I’ve also looked at SD Track Mag but they as well are incomplete. Thanks much

I covered those finals for the first 10 years and did a couple track books on best marks, 1965 and 1971. I have some early track narratives on my blog (1929, ’38, ’48, ’51, ’57). But I’ve been locked out of the libraries since March and, if you’re in San Diego, that’s where you will have to go. The libraries have microfilm dating to the year the San Diego Section was formed. If I can help with any specifics, let me know. Good luck.
Rick Smith: What is your source for Grossmont High’s Clyde Wetter 57-05.50 Shot Put mark in your “1951: Tale of Two Teams and Two Sports” post at the this link: https://www.partletonsports.com/1951-foothillers-win-southern-section-baseball-cavers-filmed-out-in-track/
I have three sources–including the LA Times–that say the mark was 57-08.50,
I made the correction in the answer to your other question about John Parker. Thanks again.
Rick Smith:
Similar Question.
What is your source for San Diego High’s John Parker’s 21-04.50 Broad Jump mark in your “1951: Tale of Two Teams and Two Sports” post at the this link: https://www.partletonsports.com/1951-foothillers-win-southern-section-baseball-cavers-filmed-out-in-track/
I have three sources–including the LA Times–that say the mark was 21-04.25.
A group of us (including Hank Lawson who asked about CIFSDS Section Finals) are putting together a complete history of the California State Meet. Trying to reconcile all the various numbers out there is a part that project.
You’re correct. I looked more closely at my L.A Times microfilm results and Parker jumped 21-4 1/4. You’re also right on Wetter’s 57-8 1/2. You should be my editor. I’ll make those fixes in my story. Thank you.
